Sing From Soil
Sing from Soil is a unique offering that supports reconnection with each other and the Earth. Through vocal expression, ceremony, herbalism and guided practices that support embodied listening, we will reconnect with parts of our humanity that intuitively understand how to learn from plants and places. For this Fall season, we will drop in deeply to support our transition into winter, allying with grounding root medicines and the land to move into an inward season with intention. We will gather in circles in different outdoor spaces, all within an hour of Asheville, NC, with our main hubs in Marshall and Barnardsville, NC.
Hi, I'm Sarah Louise. I will facilitate our journey to the realms where plants and music mingle. Some of my earliest memories include singing to wildflowers. Through embodied listening, ceremonial herbalism and ancestral grief work over the past decade, I have recovered this practice, learning that the blockages and the forgetting are the openings to remember. I bring a deeply compassionate presence to circles, with a belief that the Earth delights in all of our expression, no matter how blocked it may seem. Studying vestiges of animistic music and herbalism from my own ancestry as well as experimental art and music traditions inform my cultural orientation. I have foraged and made herbal medicine for over 20 years, and I bring deep knowledge of and devotion to our mountain ecosystems. It is now my pleasure to invite others into caring spaces that support their own reconnection, in whatever way that looks and sounds for them. All voices are heartily welcomed!
