This event is organised by Cardiff Stop the War and co-sponsored by Cardiff Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Doors will open at 5.15pm for light refreshments and stalls and talks will begin at 6pm.
Britons are increasingly calling for a ceasefire and supporting Palestine (YouGov, Feb 2024) but political action on the whole has been wholly absent or very weak, with a few notable exceptions. This panel discussion brings together politicians from a range of political parties with Palestinian and Jewish activists to discuss the urgent and immediate needs in Palestine, as well as the longer term steps towards liberation. It's a chance for local citizens to ask elected representatives questions they have, and learn how to move Palestine further up the political agenda.
Confirmed speakers include:
*Video message* from Clare Daly (Irish MEP)
Beth Winter MP for Cynon Valley (Welsh Labour)
Sioned Williams (South Wales West, Plaid Cymru)
Councillor Imran Latif (Liberal Democrats)
Sabrin Hasbun (Academic, writer and decolonisation campaigner)
Willoughby Zimmerman (South Wales Jews for Collective Liberation)
The event will be chaired by local campaigner Sharifah Rahman and introduced by Bethan Sayed (former Member of the Senedd).
There will be a chance to browse a have snacks and hot drinks ahead of the event and browse stalls including 'By Besaan', handmade products by a local Welsh and Palestinian schoolgirl who is raising money for Medical Aid for Palestine.
