Join us Saturday, 16th September, 16:30 at Patricia Fleming Gallery (4 Oxford Ln)
for a live performance choreographed and performed by Jen DeNike
in the closing event for “Rupture, Rapture: Womxn in Collage” from 16NSt Curatorial Collective.
“Becoming Rain” is a performance activating DeNike's multi-media collage installation, presented within the exhibition. The artist’s practice of collage and performance have always been inextricably linked; one is not a product of the other, but rather the two are positioned in a constant dialogue. The performance will explore embodied methodologies of movement, ecstatic dance and repetition. "Becoming Rain" performance includes a musical score of selected tracks from Enyang Ha's newly released debut album "Name of Your Light".
"In the process of collaging, an alchemy of translation occurs. The collages evolve through acts of performance, or in reverse. An enactment of making and movement engage, a repetition of gestures become marks, mirrored layering accumulates; it is here the choreography of assemblage is found."
- Jen DeNike
Doors open at 16:30 and the performance begins at 17:00, and will take place in the outdoor courtyard (rain or shine) of Patricia Fleming Gallery, entry via the gate on 4 Oxford Ln.
