Description
Welcome to Scriptorium, A Medieval Cocktail Emporium...
For one weekend only on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th June, Blackfriars Priory invites you to step back in time as the ancient Scriptorium will be transported back to the thirteenth century for a Medieval themed cocktail bar.
With moody lighting, faux antler chandeliers and an eclectic cocktail menu brought to you by ‘The Cocktail Service’, a rare trip to Scriptorium is not to be missed.
Themed around the fascinating history of the site, the Scriptorium is widely considered to be the oldest standing purpose-built library in Northern Europe and is of international historical importance.
The building was used by Dominican Friars Monks as a place to study, with carefully positioned windows for maximum light and a cool ground level for storing food. Rarely open to the public, we invite you to step inside our very own time capsule and sample a stunning menu of experimental and traditional cocktails. For those who prefer a simpler tipple, mocktails and a standard bar menu will also be available.
Fancy some food to go with your drinks? Blackfriars has you covered. Openside Pizza will be serving up fresh pizza so you can tuck in and get that foody fix with vegan options available alongside the standard menu. Need gluten free? No problem! Get in touch to let Blackfriars know no later than 24 hours in advance and this can get be arranged for you.
Openside Pizza is a mobile pizza company run by Gloucester’s No1 restaurant on Tripadvisor, Hooker & Eight and Gloucester Rugby’s current captain Lewis Ludlow. Hand stretched stone baked pizza cooked on the flame to order!
