Sat 30 Sep 2023 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Munday’s Meadow, Wildwood Bluebell, GL56 0XU
Description
Fire gathering holds great significance for many indigenous communities around the world. It's often seen as a crucial cultural practice that has deep spiritual, ecological, and practical importance. Fires are used for various purposes, including land management, hunting, cooking, ceremony, and storytelling. They help shape ecosystems, support plant and animal life, and maintain a healthy balance in nature.
What:
The Ap-Appuy (Apuy=Fire) gathering is a cultural event among the Ifugao people of the Philippines. Ifugao is a province located in the Northern part of the Philippines. The Ifugao people have a rich cultural heritage that is deeply rooted in their connection with the land, rice cultivation, rituals and community traditions. We welcome the presence of our Ifugao Mumbaki (Healer) Mamerto “Lagitan” Tindongan in the heart of Cotswolds in the UK.
This event is open to everyone regardless of your lineage. We would like to invite you to share this experience with us as we connect back to each of our ancestors through, movement, music, food and storytelling. Come with an open heart.
