🎶 August Headliner: Andres Roots

Bio : "The Estonian king of (mainly) acoustic blues instrumentals Andres Roots has re-established his following since Covid as a regular and welcome visitor to these shores," writes Norman Darwen in the May issue of Blues in Britain magazine. A guitarist/songwriter whose recordings have received airplay on five continents and who has toured throughout Europe and in the USA, Roots has also composed music for theatre, films and TV, while his Golden Disc-earning 2016 LP "Roots Music" remains the only blues album ever to top the sales charts in the Baltics.

Born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1976, Andres Roots (his real name!) has been living in Tartu since 1995, even serving as an official Ambassador for that Southern Estonian town during its 2024 tenure as the European Capital of Culture. His current album "Royal Spa Blues - Live from Temperance" was recorded in Leamington Spa in July 2024, right after performing at the 40th anniversary edition of the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival and the award-winning Upton Blues Festival. Launched with a string of dates in Wales and England in March 2025, the CD was voted 'Album Pick of the Month' by the UK's Independent Blues Broadcasters Association and reached #2 in the IBBA monthly airplay chart for February.
