On July 8, ‘A Night at the Opera’ will see North Wales Opera Studio are returning for a courtyard concert, starting at 6.30pm.

North Wales Opera Studio give young singers the chance to perform a wide range of music, from Bizet to Bernstein. Among them is the young mezzo Cecilia Zhang, who’s come this year from Auckland, New Zealand, to take up a place at the Royal Academy of Music.

She said: “I’m excited to proudly represent my heritage as a Chinese-Kiwi singer on a wider stage.”

Other newcomers include Aurora Bowkett, a young soprano raised in the eisteddfod tradition who has sung in New Orleans and Chicago, Rachel Moras, a Port Talbot singer who has performed in Italy and France and Spanish tenor Julio Cancio has travelled to Wales from Madrid.
Baritone Ben Noble from North East England takes opera to new audiences and trains the Military WAGS Choir will also be appearing, while Welsh tenor Mark Jenkins and Lichfield-based soprano Charlotte Derry are making their second appearance at the Workhouse.
