Ticket Tailor vs. Zeffy

Let's talk ticketing. How do the features and pricing models stack up on the two platforms and which is right for you?

Your supporters save with Ticket Tailor

Zeffy operates on a clever tip-based pricing model asking for contributions from your supporters to cover their operating costs. Ticket Tailor runs a flat fee model with the option to pass on fees making it free for you.

  • Zeffy: an optional supporter contribution at checkout, pre-filled at 15% to 17%
  • Ticket Tailor: a low flat fee per ticket, from 22p, with 50% off for charities
  • Ticket Tailor: Choose to pass our fees on to your ticket buyer making the platform free for you

Direct payouts and donations that reach your cause

Donations really matter for charities so knowing where those all important contributions end up matter:

  • Ticket Tailor: ticket sales go directly to your Stripe, PayPal or Square account, and we never touch them
  • Ticket Tailor: supporters can add a donation alongside their tickets, and you can claim Gift Aid on it. All of this goes to you.
  • Zeffy: the supporter contribution goes to Zeffy rather than to your cause

A platform built for ticketing

If your event goes beyond the basics of waitlists and QR check-in then we've got you covered with more refined features:

  • Reserved seating: build a seating chart that buyers click to choose their own seats
  • Time slots, so guests can choose when they attend
  • Sell products and add-ons alongside tickets
  • Automate and integrate with Claude & ChatGPT.

Unmatched 24/7 support for everyone

  • Ticket Tailor: 24/7 support from product experts, every day of the year
  • Ticket Tailor: a response in five minutes or less
  • Zeffy: support from 9am to 5pm EST (2pm to 10pm in the UK), by phone or email

Reviews from Event Creators on Capterra

Excellent value for money with discounts for charities / not for profits, and the option to buy credits in advance for a reduced price.

Capterra review

They continue to develop and release new features, without trying to increase what they charge us. As a small nonprofit, the pay as you go feature is a must have and wonderful way to unlock premium products.

Lake

Capterra review

Ticket Tailor made hosting our community fundraiser simple and stress-free. It provided an affordable way to manage ticket sales while supporting our mission, and attendees found the checkout process quick and easy.

Michael

Capterra review

This worked brilliantly for our film night at a community centre. It was easy to add a donation option for our chosen charity and to add trailers and film images to show off what we were screening.

Bronwen

Capterra review

Really pleased, customer service has been impeccable, I had a few questions when setting up the page and the webchat was always quick and easy to use, with helpful advice from a real person, not a robot!

Alex

The platform is very user friendly, versatile, perfect for student unions like ours. We also really appreciate the value, with a non-profits discount.

Looking for an alternative to Zeffy?

Is Zeffy actually free?

Zeffy doesn't charge charities a platform fee, a subscription or card processing fees. It's funded by an optional contribution that ticket buyers are asked to add at checkout, so the cost moves from you to your supporters. Ticket Tailor lets you do the same by passing our fee on to your buyers with a simple toggle. Read our full breakdown of Zeffy's fees for real ticket examples.

Is Ticket Tailor cheaper than Zeffy for supporters?

It depends on your ticket price. For a charity selling 500 tickets, Zeffy's average contribution costs supporters less on tickets under about £16, and Ticket Tailor's flat fee plus card processing costs less above that. At our lowest charity rate the crossover drops to about £12. On a £50 ticket, supporters would pay about £1.16 with us against £2.00 with Zeffy at its average contribution. Use the calculator above to try your own numbers.

What do supporters think of tip-based charging?

Reactions are mixed. Plenty of organisations are happy with Zeffy and it scores well on review sites, but the pre-filled contribution is the most common complaint, with some supporters not realising it's optional. A booking fee works differently, because it shows up as a clear line on the order and can be explained on your event page before anyone reaches checkout.

Can charities use Ticket Tailor?

Yes. Registered charities get 50% off our fees, with discounts for B Corps, PTAs and other not-for-profits too. Supporters can add a donation alongside their tickets, and charities can claim Gift Aid on that donation. And if your event is free, so are we, for up to 5,000 free tickets a year.

Do I need to be a charity to use Zeffy?

Yes. Zeffy is for registered charities and not-for-profits. In the UK that means charities registered with the Charity Commission, OSCR or CCNI, plus CICs and HMRC-recognised community groups. Ticket Tailor is open to every kind of organiser, from charities and schools to businesses and festivals.

Which ticketing features does Ticket Tailor have that Zeffy doesn't?

Reserved seating is the clearest, with a seating chart that buyers click to choose their own seats. Ad tracking is another, with Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel and GA4 built in. We also offer 24/7 support with a response in five minutes or less, and a total price that's set before anyone reaches checkout.
