Ticket Tailor is now a certified B Corp: Our journey so far/
The start of our B Corp Journey
We’ve always been big believers that businesses should play a vital role in making the world better. And at Ticket Tailor our vision is all about ‘growth on purpose’. We’ve long stated this on our website, but we believe that actions speak louder than words, so in 2020 we started our journey to becoming a B Corp.
Two years on - after months of rigorous assessment - we’re excited to say that Ticket Tailor is now officially a B Corp! We’re the first independent ticketing platform to become certified and are thrilled to have joined a global community of over 5,000 B Corps who, like us, believe in doing business responsibly.
What’s a B Corp?
B Corps are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. The focus for B Corps is on doing good for all stakeholders, not just shareholders, as is often the case with many profit-focused organisations.
Being a B Corp involves making a legal commitment to having a material positive impact on both people and the planet, with intentional regard to all stakeholders including employees, suppliers and customers, amongst others. In short, it means you care about a lot more than just making money.
We are incredibly proud and excited to be joining a global community of over 5,000 other businesses, who all believe in using business as a force for good. The more companies who certify and join the movement, the closer we can get to an economic system that is inclusive, equitable and regenerative for all people and the planet.
The process we went through to become a B Corp
Applying for B Corp certification is a very rigorous process. We started our journey just before the pandemic in 2020, and it took over two years to get across the finish line! To apply for certification you must provide lots of answers and evidence about the way in which you run your business, from governance to employee well-being through to environmental impact and creating value for customers.
There are over 200 questions which assess policies, processes and best practices across all business operations. The framework allows you to score how well you’re already doing, whilst also giving you a solid guide on where else you can continue to improve. We’re very proud to have certified for the first time with a score of 86.3 (to certify you need a score of 80 — the average business scores less than 60!). But we’re excited for our next stage of growth and taking that number beyond 90. B Corps have to re-certify every three years, so we’ll be working on our areas for improvement during that period.
You can see a breakdown of our score on the B Corp website.
The things we’re proud of on our journey so far
Giving back to the planet – For every ticket sold, we donate 1p to climate charities. Our three charity partners are: Ocean Conservation Trust, Rainforest UK, and Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
We became carbon neutral in 2021 – and chose to offset all the emissions from our entire trading history!
B Corps, charities and PTA’s get 20% off – In 2021, 1,249 organisations benefited from this discount.
Putting event organisers first – We’ve challenged the industry standard by offering high quality support to all of our users, no matter what they spend or the size of their events. (Our median customer response time is under two mins and our NPS is over 70!)
Supporting our team – We’re committed to being a relaxed, caring and inclusive employer because we know that without a happy team, we won’t have a great product. Initiatives like our wellbeing budget, profit share scheme, weekly ‘appreciation circle’ and more, contribute to our eNPS score of 73.
Here’s to the future
This is just the start. We hope to inspire other businesses, particularly in the events and ticketing industry, to join the movement. And we can’t wait to take you along the B Corp journey with us.
Stay tuned as we’ll be sharing regular updates, including publishing our first-ever Impact Report and creating a brand new page on our website, which will become the new hub for all things sustainability.
