As Transgender awareness week comes to an end, we’re celebrating some of our fave inclusive events.

What is Transgender awareness week?

Taking place on November 13-19 every year, Transgender awareness week brings awareness to issues being faced by the transgender community. Transgender awareness week culminates in the Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day of tribute for transgender people who have died due to widespread transphobic violence.

There are so many inspiring events and initiatives highlighting allyship, and shining a light on the lived experience of trans people. We’re lucky to be able to share some of our favourite positive events using Ticket Tailor.

Incredibly important Equality, Diversion and Inclusion training workshops

Our event organisers are dedicated to fostering a community where people can live authentically, in and out of work. We are totally inspired by the work of VocalEyes

VocalEyes help everyone to experience more art and culture through audio description by bringing art and culture to life for blind and visually impaired people at theatres, museums, galleries, heritage sites and online. They offer a range of training courses, including LGBTQIA+ Awareness CPD for VocalEyes audio describers, which helps to develop more accessible and inclusive practices within arts and heritage venues.

Community building Skills swap workshops

The LGBTQIA2S+ community is a powerful collective, with a lot of creativity. We see hundreds of creative events selling loads of tickets online, and we’re loving the recent trend of workshops where people can learn from one another and swap their creative skills.

One workshop that has really made us smile is ‘Redefine and shine’ an online art space run by Kutenai Art Therapy Institute where people can discuss their experiences of being a part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and make art relating to that.

Drag brunches galore

‘Drag’ is a performance art which celebrates the joy in the LGBTQIA2S+ community. A safe space for living uniquely, and with the popularity of shows like RuPaul’s drag race, we have seen an explosion of Drag events popping up to fundraise, raise awareness, or simply to entertain.

TroyBoy Entertainment run a whole host of drag events, like their Kings and Queens debut popping up in Ontario later this month!

Pride events (and not just for Pride month)

We’re proud of all of the Pride events that run on our platform, fighting for equality, space and rights for the community.

We’ve been long-time admirers of National Student Pride, who run the UK’s biggest LGBT+ student event, with talks, music, activism, parties, and loads of celebrations of people’s authentic selves.

We’re also loving Chester Pride’s seasonal initiative of selling Christmas cards, from their cafe and safe space the Rainbow Tearooms

As part of a global community of event organisers, we love being able to celebrate the uniqueness and diversity that makes up our collective events!

I want some tips to make my next event more inclusive!

As a team, we’re committed to EDI. If you have any thoughts about how we could be more supportive of experiences outside of our own, please let us know at [email protected].
